the things we did; a day in the life

Five Things I Did Today

1. Sneezed all over my keyboard and was too lazy to clean it off.
2. Sneezed all over my mirror. After reflecting on the gross-ness of not cleaning the keyboard, I cleaned the mirror.
3. Watched Love Actually for about the hundredth time & got a Bay City Roller's song stuck in my head. It is simeltaneously playing with an Electric Light Orchestra song.
4. At approximately 4:14 looked into the mirror and noticed that my white tee shirt was see through. Couldn't bother to change, though.
5. Employed my favourite French phrase "hyper cool" to describe the snow. It smells so lovely & looks very pretty out....

The Last 24 Hours in Numbers

-Movies watched: 3 (The Object of My Affection, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, Love Actually)
-Hours spent playing the Sims 2: a pathetic & large number (addictive!)
-Chocolate covered almonds consumed: too many to count
-Blogs read: 12
-Boarding school application essays written: 0 out of 2

have you taken the trash out yet?

This vintage dress is from ModCloth and I sort of like it. But I also sort of think it's hideous. The sleeves are sort of gross, but it might just be the armless mannequin. The fabric looks like a garbage bag, but it might just be the picture. It reminds me of the 80s, though, and that is highly intriguing. But you see, the reason I mention this is because it would sort of fit me perfectly. So I need your opinion.

On another note, I'm trying to find some spandex leggings because those are amazing & I would sort of like some. I think I could be banished from Minnesota for ever wearing them, though. Also, I haven't had a job in a while & the holidays are coming up & I'm major broke so I basically have no money to spend....on leggings or the dress. Life has tendencies to be a fiasco. I think it's time to sell some stuff on eBay. Like that old Game Boy I have tucked away in my basement somewhere.

here comes the human

So I did end up seeing Twilight last night. It is sort of a guilty pleasure, I've decided. It was absolutely dreadful but beyond pleasing at the same time. For your convenience, I've decided to make a list of the best parts & the worst parts.
Best Parts
When Eddy & Emmett are playing baseball & they crash in the air and the lightning flashes behind them
Jasper's one face expression
Edward climbing up the tree with Bella on his back. And then flying from tree to tree
When Jacob Black appears from within the forest at prom
Edward & Billy Black having a staredown from seperate cars
Edward Cullen's glittery skin
When Bella walks in front of the fan and Edward goes all funny
Bella's fantasy of the Edward/Bella vampire porno
The flashback when the Cullens are dressed up like explorers in the jungle
When the Cullens are making Bella Italian food
Bella's pepper spray
The flashback when Carlisle is sucking Edward's blood (Eddy's face)
The entire baseball scene
When they accidentally touch hands and Bella freaks out
Bella's writhing on the floor at the ballet studio sounding like a dying pig
Every scene with Charlie - most notably when he's cleaning his gun
Bella & Edwards face expressions
Worst Parts
When Eddy & Emmett are playing baseball & they crash in the air and the lightning flashes behind them
Jasper's one face expression
Edward climbing up the tree with Bella on his back. And then flying from tree to tree
When Jacob Black appears from within the forest at prom
Jacob Black's hair
Edward Cullen's glittery skin
When Bella walks in front of the fan and Edward goes all funny
Bella's fantasy of the Edward/Bella vampire porno
The flashback when the Cullens are dressed up like explorers in the jungle

The flashback when Carlisle is sucking Edward's blood (Eddy's face)
The entire baseball scene
When they accidentally touch hands and Bella freaks out
Bella's writhing on the floor at the ballet studio sounding like a dying pig
The beginning when Eddy is hunting the little deer
Victoria at prom
Bella & Edwards face expressions
Stephanie Meyer's random cameo appearance
So there you have it. If you have plans to go, watch out. I was crying during the movie because I was trying so so so hard not to laugh (at the parts that were not to be laughed at). I will for sure be buying this when it comes to DVD, no question. p.s. Billy Burke was amazing. I had high hopes for him. The Cullens weren't bad either, especially Kellan Lutz as Emmett.

we love the familiar because it's all we know

1. I've worn nothing of interest (aka my uniform) for the past 2 weeks.

2. I finished reading The Catcher in the Rye, which I adore, but kept realizing how similar Holden is to this character named Soren in a novel I'm writing. In fact, during class discussions I would be like "and S-Sor-S....uhhhhh...S-...gosh, what's his......Holden". It was very embarassing and made me feel like one of those spacey girls who are so far out there.

3. What is the current Yen to American dollar exchange rate?

4. I might go see Twilight tomorrow. I just don't really want to look like one of those obsessed fans who think it's the greatest book ever written. But I am curious. I very much liked the plot of the book, but the writing killed me. And so did the other 3 parts of the series.

5. My entire life has suddenly become focused on getting into this very prestigious boarding school I mentioned in my last blog. So please excuse me while I go fill out the insane amount of applications, schedule an interview, and both hand write & type two seperate essays.....just to even be considered as part of the 20% of applicants who are accepted. Good bye.

boarding school & jackets

There's a 99% chance that I am applying for boarding school on the east coast (and then praying to God that my A's & A-'s are good enough grades to get in). They're recruiting kids from my school & it sounds like an amazing opportunity. I'm trying to convince my friends to at least go to the meeting to learn more about it (I don't really want to go alone!).

I went vintage shopping with my friends yesterday. All the shops are mega expensive & it really bugs me. I found this little sports jacket in the men's section that was like heaven & fit perfectly. Except it was $60! Who the heck has $60 to spend on a ragged little used jacket?? 'Twas true insanity.

god blessed america....at last.

Thank the Lord.
At last America did something right.
....though only for a brief moment.
In California, over 11,000 gay married couples are no longer considered married because Prop 8 was passed, a proposition that bans gay marriage in the state. Gay marriage was made legal only last May.
In Florida, a ban on gay marriage passed with 62% approval.
In Arizona, a ban on gay marriage was passed with 56% approval.
In Arkansas, a ban on same sex couples adopting or fostering children passed with 57% approval. How disgusting.

“Christians here and around the nation consider this a great victory for the institution of marriage. We had to stand up and say, ‘Enough is enough.'"
Rod Parsley, pastor of World Harvest Church in Columbus, Ohio

People disgust me. That above statement makes me ashamed to be a Christian. "Enough is enough"? Yeah, like gay people had so much power already. Like they were ruining your life. Give me a break, Rod Parsley.

I'm so frustrated, disappointed, and disgusted right now....I don't even want to begin. Proposition 8 & all bans on gay marriage should be against the law because it violates Constitutional/Amendment rights. Also, for all those religious conservatives out there, the bible says not to be selfish and not to judge. Hm...isn't it a bit selfish to take away someone's right to love, marriage, & even children?

"Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law." Romans 13:8

"Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law." Romans 13:10

Also, isn't it a bit judgmental to just assume that Gay people are filling the heads of children with sinful ideas and that (yes, I did actually hear this) that gay people are ruining the economy. Leave the judging to God, please.

"Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of God." Romans 14:10

I usually don't pull out the bible verses, but since I feel strongly about this issue & it's directly connected with religion, I feel it's important to back it up with religion. I apologize to those who are not religious & do not want to hear the words of God.

ModCloth November

Since it's the school week & I'm forced to wear my drag uniform everyday, I haven't had much to blog about. But I was browsing ModCloth & came across some amazing items. ModCloth is the type of webstore where I love almost everything they stock, but I've never ordered anything because of the price or out of laziness. Since some of the items are truly notable pieces of art, I'll proceed to feature some. Now, please turn your attention to exhibit A:

I love cloche hats, especially this one! The feathers are amazing with the blue. I have a cloche hat but it is only white. Of course I got it vintage, so maybe an actual flapper once wore it which could be a plus, depending on how you look at it. Anyways, maybe this will be the next thing I buy? Just kidding. It' $134.
Hi, look at how cool this trench is! I don't have much to say actually. It's just very classy & reminds me of Amelia Earhart (who I used to have an unexplainable obsession with....I suppose because she represented woman power. I'm so not a feminist, though). These knee socks have bicycles on them! How amazing! I love the green, too, for some reason...even though I typically hate the colour green. I've been eyeing these for so long.
ModCloth has brilliant tights & shoes, too. They used to have these killer Le Petit Prince flats. I dreamed about those at night. Unfortunately they didn't come for my size 4 feet. Their blog ModLife also can be fairly interesting. They did a few segments on how to tie different types of scarves, once. Aw man, I gotta go do homework and cheer on Barack & Al Franken. I promise my blog will get more interesting in the future.

I want you to be the first to meet....

I want you to be the first to meet my new boyfriend. My sweater.
It radiates Screech-ness.
My sweater >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> your sweater
Actually, Screech is jealous of my sweater.
Your sweater wishes it was as cool as my sweater.
I'm done bragging about my sweater. It's in the wash right now.
